Beer should be dispensed at about 12 15 psi and light lagers should be kept very cold 36 38 f. Coors is 4 2 abv light beer that is always lagered filtered and packaged cold. Ideally the beer should fall freely from your spigot and not be forced out.
Applied pressure and temperature are required to obtain the correct dissolved co2. A rich malty and hoppy beer needs as little as 7 psi of pressure behind it while for a light lager style beer you will usually want something like 10 12 psi to push it properly. Generally the less complex the taste the more bubbles you want to put into the beer to balance our the final taste. Under normal circumstances we recommend setting the regulator at 12 psi.
However this beer also has to be pushed out to the faucet. For lagers a regulator set between 10 and 14 psi works best. For most ales including pale ales ipas ambers etc that come from the brewery with a carbonation volume of about 2 1 to 2 6 you want to set your regulator from about 7 to 13 psi. We recommend setting the regulator at 12 psi.
I recommend starting at 6 psi and adjusting slowly up from there. I wouldn t go too much shorter on a home kegerator with that applied pressure. Coors light at 38f with 14 psi is realistically as good as you can expect. Play around with the pressure until you don t get too much foaming the length of your beer lines.
